Bishop Richard Condie of Tasmania organised our first Next Generation Leaders’ Retreat at the end of last year. It was a very encouraging occasion! Richard reports:
“Gafcon Australia hosted a retreat for eleven emerging young leaders (men and women) at the end of October 2025 to introduce them to the work of Gafcon in Australia and around the world. The cohort came from every state and territory except the ACT, and it was a wonderful time of fellowship.
We talked together about the story of global Anglicanism, the mission of Gafcon, different ways to reform a denomination, the Jerusalem Declaration, courageous leadership and how we can all defend the faith in our different contexts.
The fellowship was rich and strong as new friendships were formed, and prayer and Bible study took place.
It was great to share the vision, diffuse some myths and talk about how Gafcon is for both those who stay in the Anglican church working for reform, and those who had felt they need to leave. Together we workshopped a short statement:
Gafcon is a movement for reforming and keeping the Anglican Church biblical, historical and missional, by commending and guarding the gospel, in the face of threats of revision.
It was great to see young leaders leave the retreat more committed to the Anglican Church of Australia than before they came. One participant wrote to us and said:
“Honestly, it was the best time of personal development I have experienced in a while. It was so amazing to meet brothers and sisters around Australia who are standing firm for the gospel in very difficult (and different) contexts.” “
Praise God for this fruitful retreat in God’s Word and in fellowship. Please join us in praying that many more young men and women would love God’s Word and lead people faithfully in its authority in Australian Anglican churches.
